The Order of the World

The Order of the World

When Karmaraa, first Veulkor of all the Ell, defeated Sondehna, dark prince of the north, he began the long march to peace and order. His successors gradually built upon the foundations until, in the light of the Creator, the seven guilds were born, the seven that make the world.

The Dar Kaadarith

The Dar Kaadarith

The Order of Stone. By their lore the world is driven, the Namad Dar. Here is where the word is written, for with the lore of stone the Ell can command the elements themselves, calling up not only the raw forces that compose the world, but also their essence, their very spirit. The four pillars of creation are subdued by the art of the Dar Kaadarith, and earth, air, fire and water now do the bidding of the Ell.

The Faxith

The Faxith

The Order of Healing. They understand the seven centres, the fires of life, and know how to replenish them when the need arises. Almost as old as the seers, it was said that once, long ago, the Faxith had been coeval with Exentaser but that a schism had split the disciplines. Now there are two where before there had been only one.

The Exentaser

The Exentaser

The Order of Sight. Since the very beginning there have been seers, keepers of the lore of fate, the Namad Soygah. But they also know how to seek out the truth and are invariably called upon when the truth is hidden. As a consequence it is unwise to deceive them – and dangerous to try.

The Balt Kaalith

The Balt Kaalith

The Order of Discord. ‘Eternal vigilance’ is their catechism. They settle disputes and deal with heresy whenever it rears its ugly head, for not all choose to follow the rule of the Velukor, and it is therefore the duty of the Balt Kaalith to seek them out and, if they refuse recantation, banish them lest they upset the order of things. To this end there is a place set aside for them, the land of the exiles, Lonsiatris. And so the peace is maintained.

The Prah Sibith

The Prah Sibith

The Order of Provision. Born of the wealth of the south, the Prah Sibith keep the wheels of the world turning. If it needs moving, they are the ones to move it. If it needs building, they are the ones to build it. Wealth is their tool, but not their master.

The Erm Roith

The Erm Roith

The Order of Harmony. They are the sayers of the world, and by their word all things stay the same. They uphold the three truths, the four pillars and the seven virtues. Here are the rituals of the world, both the great and the small, the rule of the Velukorith certain in every heart.

The Nazad Esiask

The Nazad Esiask

The Order of War. Keepers of the arts martial, they stand ready, waiting for the next resurgence of the Mahorellah, the next war by those that sleep in the abyss. For it was Karmaraa himself who said, “Though it take an age of the heavens the Ell shall always be prepared, for evil does not sleep, it merely bides its time!”
